Preparing you for leadership and strategy work
The programme prepares you for a leadership role and strategic work in corporations and organizations operating under uncertainty and dealing with complexity. Upon completion of the programme, you will be able to deal with complex management problems and understand the conditions of management in your specific field of expertise. You will develop as a leader and gain an understanding of the role you can play in positive societal development.
Up-to-date courses based on current research
Our teachers are actively engaged within and outside the university, ensuring that our programme corresponds to state-of-the-art research and your coursework stays current. The core courses cover a wide range of topics related to leadership, strategy, change management, sustainability, marketing, and finance. The portfolio of elective courses from which you can choose is continually updated to reflect recent developments in all areas of management thinking, and you have several opportunities to tailor your education to your individual interests and goals. The opportunity to do an international exchange allows you to gain even more diverse current perspectives.
Interdisciplinary courses with a strong sustainability profile
The core courses provide you with an understanding of key areas of general management, balancing theoretical elements of individual, firm, market, and economic behavior with applied and practical aspects of the various business disciplines. In order to maximize your personal and professional effectiveness across a range of capabilities necessary to be a successful leader, our core courses put particular focus on developing communication skills, team working, writing skills, performance feedback, and coaching. The cross-disciplinary character of the programme allows you to take stock of your personal leadership aspirations and capabilities and focus on becoming an effective, inspirational, and responsible leader. Sustainability issues are key components of our courses, giving you the opportunity to delve deeper into the role of companies in society.
International
An international atmosphere allows you to experience other cultures, improve your communication skills, and build a global network of friends. You will be part of a multicultural classroom. We also offer the chance to spend an exchange semester at

Programme structure and content
The first semester consists of three mandatory courses:
- Foundations in Management
- Strategy and Organization
- Managing Markets
The second semester begins with two mandatory courses:
- Corporate Governance and Financial Structures
- Change Management
At the end of the second semester and beginning of the third, you have the opportunity to choose four elective courses, which can include subjects such as project management, accounting, strategy, innovation management, marketing, or international business.
The third semester concludes with two additional mandatory courses:
- Preparing for Leadership
- Research Methods in Management
Exchange studies are encouraged in either the second or third semester of the programme.
The fourth semester consists entirely of your master’s thesis, which is commonly written in close collaboration with a company.

Prerequisites and selection
Requirements
General entrance requirements: A Bachelor's degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS credits) from an internationally recognized university and English 6/English B from Swedish upper secondary school school or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test. For more information about general entrance requirements see www.universityadmissions.se (English) and www.antagning.se (Swedish). Programme specific entrance requirements: A minimum of 30 credits of courses in subject areas related to business, economics, human resource management and/or labour relations and a minimum of 15 credits in statistics or 7,5 credits in statistics and 7,5 credits in quantitative methods and/or mathematics.
Selection
Group 1 (prioritized)
Group 1 is applicants with a GMAT score. Applicants are ranked by their GMAT score result. For further information: minimum accepted GMAT score, last day to write test etc.
It is not mandatory to submit a GMAT score, but having a GMAT score that reaches the minimum will give you priority in the admission. Applicants with test results that do not meet the minimum are placed in selection group 2.
Group 2 (secondary)
Group 2 is applicants ranked by number of university credits (ECTS credits). Applicants are ranked by number of credits reported on the last day for application (max. 165 ECTS credits).
If several applicants have the same number of credits the selection of students is made by ballot.
After graduation
Graduates of the programme receive a degree of Master of Science in Management.

Facilities
The School of Business, Economics and Law is located at one end of Vasagatan, closest to Haga, and at Viktoriagatan 13. The building at Vasagatan houses the Economics Library, which is several floors high and offers many study places. The building is usually nicknamed "Handels".
