Welcome Programme

The International Student Welcome Programme is held at the beginning of each semester. The programme of events and activities provides international students with practical information about the University and living in Gothenburg. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet other international students and Student Buddies from all over the world.

Saturday 14 January: Arrival Day and pick-up service

Welcome Services and Student Buddies from the student unions welcomed international students from all over the world to the University of Gothenburg. Students were picked up at the airport, train station and other arrival points and brought to the Student Housing office in the city where, among other things, we handed out the welcome pack.

Welcome packs
During the week 16-20 January, you can pick up your welcome pack at the Student Housing Services’ office anytime between 10am-12pm.
After 22 January, you need to email welcomeprogramme@gu.se if you wish to pick up your welcome pack.

Monday 16 January: Welcome Day

The University of Gothenburg formally welcomed all the new international students starting in Spring 2017. Following speeches and presentations by University staff and student unions, the second half focused on Swedish culture and life in Gothenburg through engaging presentations and a panel of students who were happy to answer questions not only from the moderator but also from the audience.
