Welcome Programme

The International Student Welcome Programme is held at the beginning of each semester. The programme of events and activities provides international students with practical information about the University and living in Gothenburg. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet other international students and Student Buddies from all over the world.

Welcome Programme Autumn 2017

Saturday 19 August and Tuesday 22 August:

Arrival Day, Pick-up service and welcome pack

International students arriving on these days can benefit from a pick-up service from Landvetter Airport, the central station and ferry terminals.
Please note: The last pick-up time at each arrival point is 8pm.

Through our cooperation with the Chalmers University of Technology, you also have the option of making use of their arrival service at the Landvetter airport on 21 August.

For details and registration for the pick-up service, visit the page Plan your trip and arrival. We strongly recommend that you arrive on one of the Arrival Days and benefit from the pick-up service. It is also a great opportunity to meet fellow new international students and ask questions to the numerous Student Buddies who will be present to welcome you.

During the Arrival Days, exchange students renting a room from the University of Gothenburg can also pick up their keys. For more information, go to Arrival on the Student Housing Services' website.

Important: Nordplus/Nordlys students sign their contract and pick up their keys directly at their local SGS office. The SGS offices are only open Monday-Friday.

Welcome packs will be handed out before the Welcome meeting on 23 August and during the fair on 24 August. However, students arriving on the Arrival Days will receive their welcome pack at the Student Housing Services’ office. The Student Housing Services’ office is located at Medicinaregatan 20 A and will be open between 10am-9pm on the Arrival Days.

If you arrive after 24 August, you can pick up your welcome pack at the Student Housing Services’ office during the following times:

Alongside the fair, you can attend a few information sessions. Read on for a brief description of each session:
