The Student Housing Services at the University of Gothenburg would like to give a warm welcome to all new incoming exchange students, autumn term 2017!

Here you can find useful information to prepare for your arrival.

Contracts and keys

All new tenants need to sign a housing contract and collect the keys to their student room. Check the Terms of tenancy for further information.
The earliest date to collect the keys is Saturday 19 August.

Important: Information about contracts and keys to Nordplus/Nordlys students will be sent by e-mail by SGS.

Arrival Days: 19 and 22 August

We strongly recommend that you arrive on one of our two Arrival Days, 19 or 22 August so that you can benefit from our pickup service.

If you cannot come here on any of our Arrival Days, the Chalmers University of Technology will have their arrival day on 21 August. Their staff will be in place during this day to meet their students as well as any students of the University of Gothenburg who cannot make it to either of our two arrival days on 19 and 22 August.

Please read more about how to register your arrival details here

Arrival 21 August 2017

Through our collaboration with the Chalmers University of Technology, you have the option to join their arrival day on Monday 21 August. Please read more about that under the section pickup service.

Arrival outside of office hours

If you will arrive when the office is closed, please ask a friend or Student Buddy* to pick up your keys on your behalf in advance. For our office hours 19 – 22 August, see “Address for picking up keys”.

 * More information on Student Buddies.

If no one can pick up your keys on your behalf, you need to arrange an accommodation until the office opens the next day. For short-term accommodation options, we recommend SGS Veckobostäder.

Thereafter you can collect your keys at the local SGS area office for your residence. For addresses and hours of the different SGS offices, check the Residences section.

Early arrivals: before 19 August

Only students who attend a course that starts before 19 August can have access to the student accommodation earlier.

If you need to move in before 19 August, please provide the following information as soon as possible:

  • Name of the course
  • Date of the first class
  • Date you would like to move in
