We have gathered the most common questions about the scholarship application procedure for the University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship and Study Scholarship Syria.

  • Eligbility University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship

    To be eligible for the scholarship selection process, you must

    • be admitted in the first admission round to a Master's Programme at the University of Gothenburg as your first priority
    • have a valid scholarship application.

    You will not be eligible for the scholarship if you have a late application for studies.

    Already enrolled students can not apply for University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship.

  • Eligibility University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship Syria

    To be eligible for the scholarship selection process, you must

    • hold a Syrian citizenship
    • be admitted in the first admission round to a Master's Programme at the University of Gothenburg
    • have a valid scholarship application.

    You will not be eligible for the scholarship if you have a late application for studies.

    Already enrolled students can not apply for University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship Syria.

  • Application fee for studies

    In order for an application to Master’s Programmes to be processed, an application fee of SEK 900 must be installed according the instructions at universityadmissions.se.

    Applying for a scholarship does not cover the application fee.

    Application and tuition fees

  • Application period

    The online scholarship application is open between January 16, 2018 (12 p.m. CET) and February 2, 2018 (12 p.m. CET).

  • Passport or ID-card

    The passport must clearly state your name, photo, citizenship, date of issue, expiration date etcetera.

    You do not need to take copies of all the pages of your passport – the important page is the one where your personal data is stated.

    The identity card must clearly state name, citizenship and expiration date.

    The expiration date must be after November 1, 2017 for the passport/ID-card to be considered valid.

  • Letter of Motivation

    Use the provided template and follow the instructions to submit a letter of motivation. A letter of motivation submitted in any other format is not valid.

    In the letter of motivation you should describe why you are applying for the specific Master's Programme and what makes you a good candidate for this programme.

    If you're submitting a motivational letter for the Master’s Programme application, you may use the same content for your scholarship application. It is however very important that you submit the Letter of Motivation for your scholarship application according to the template provided.

    University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship

    You can only be eligible for University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship if you are admitted to a Master's Programme at the University of Gothenburg as your first priority. Therefor you should only submit one letter of motivation for the Master’s Programme that you have listed as your first priority.

    University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship Syria

    If you're applying for University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship Syria and have applied for several Master's Programmes at the University of Gothenburg, you need to submit one letter of motivation for each Master’s Programme that you have applied for.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

    Use the Europass template to submit a CV. A CV submitted in any other format is not valid.

  • Selection process

    The selection process consists of an assessment made by academic and administrative staff at the University of Gothenburg.

    A first selection is based on those who are admitted to a Master’s Programme in the selection at universityadmissions.se. The next step in the process is assessments made by academic personnel responsible for the programmes applied to. The scholarship applicants are then ranked according to these assessments by the Admissions Office.

  • Contribution to expenses

    For the scholarship holders, the contribution to expenses is accessed via a pre-paid card provided by the University of Gothenburg. The pre-paid card will be handed out to you personally at the Admissions Office upon your arrival in Sweden.

  • Online scholarship application form

    Contact information

    Please ensure that your contact information is consistent with your contact information at universityadmissions.se. Make sure you do not leave any blank space before or after the email address.

    Application number

    When stating your application number from universityadmissions.se, make sure you do not leave any blank space before, after or in between your application number. If this is not stated correctly, it will not be possible to identify your scholarship application.

  • Required documents

    For your scholarship application to be valid, you need to submit the online application form and submit the required documents via universityadmissions.se before February 2, 2018 (12 p.m. CET).

    Please note that your academic qualifications should be submitted no later than February 1, 2018 at midnight CET to University Admissions in Sweden along with your supporting documents for the programmes which you have applied for, according to the instructions at their website.

  • Make changes to a submitted application

    Online scholarship application form

    If you need to make any changes to your submitted scholarship application, it is possible to submit a new online application form within the application period. The last submitted application will be the one considered in the selection process.

    It is not possible to submit a new application after February 2, 2018 (12 p.m. CET).

    Required documents

    If you wish to make any changes to your submitted required documents, it is possible to submit new versions of the documents within the application period. The last submitted version of each required document will be considered in the selection process.

    Documents required for the scholarship application that are submitted after February 2, 2018 (12 p.m. CET) will not be considered.
