University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship Syria

Black and white photo of a man in his twenties.The Admissions Office at the University of Gothenburg offers a scholarship intended for fee-paying applicants that hold a Syrian citizenship, and have applied in the first admission round for a Master's Programme at the University of Gothenburg, with entry autumn semester 2018.

The online scholarship application is open between January 16, 2018 (12 p.m. CET) and February 2, 2018 (12 p.m. CET).

Scholarship Application Academic Year 2018/2019

The scholarship

  • covers the complete tuition fee for a Master’s Programme at the University of Gothenburg,
  • contributes to accommodation expenses during the study period,
  • contributes to living expenses during the study period and
  • contributes to travel expenses.

The University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship Syria is funded by the Adlerbertska Foundations.

How to apply

Access to the online scholarship application will be enabled on our website as soon as the scholarship application period opens January 16, 2018 (12 p.m. CET).

Scholarship Application Academic Year 2018/2019

It is only necessary to submit one scholarship application, in order to be eligible for the selection process for both Study Scholarship Syria and University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship. However, if you want to be eligible for the selection process for the University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship, please check the criteria for eligibility under Selection process.

Please note that one must have applied for a Master's Programme via universityadmissions.se with application deadline January 15, 2018 in order to be eligible for the scholarship selection process.

How to apply for a Master's Programme

Required documents

When submitting your scholarship application, the following documents are required:

  • Copy of valid passport or ID-card
    Please name your document: UG Scholarship Passport

  • Letter of Motivation
    Use the Letter of Motivation template provided by the University of Gothenburg. Letters deviating from the template will not be taken into consideration. Please name your document: UG Scholarship Letter of Motivation

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    Use the Europass template to submit a CV of maximum three pages. A CV submitted in any other format is not valid. Please name your document: UG Scholarship Europass

Please note that your academic qualifications should be submitted no later than February 1, 2018 at midnight CET to University Admissions in Sweden along with your supporting documents for the programmes which you have applied for, according to the instructions at their website.

Selection process

To be eligible for the selection process for Study Scholarship Syria, you must

  • hold a Syrian citizenship,
  • be admitted to a Master's Programme at the University of Gothenburg, and
  • have a valid scholarship application.

Please note that if you wish to be eligible for the selection process for the University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship as well, you must be admitted to a Master's Programme at the University of Gothenburg as your first priority.

The scholarship selection process will take place once the Notification of Selection Results has been published in the admissions process. The selection process consists of an assessment made by academic and administrative staff at the University of Gothenburg.

Scholarship notifications are sent out via email.

Scholarship offers are only valid for studies starting autumn semester 2018. It is not possible to defer a scholarship offer.

Please note that if being offered a scholarship from the Swedish Institute for studies starting autumn semester 2018, you will not be offered a scholarship from the University of Gothenburg.
