The selection procedure

For most courses and programmes, the number of applicants generally exceeds the number of spots available.

Selection procedures can vary depending on the course or programme. For Bachelor's studies, selection is based primarily on applicant's grade point average from upper secondary school, or number of credits from previous university studies, or both. At the Master's level, selection is normally based on previous higher education credits (ECTS).

The method of selection is specified in the description of each course or programme.

Other qualifications, if not asked for in the course descriptions, are not considered in the selection process.

Selection procedure exchange studies

Since a student needs to be nominated before applying for exchange studies, the initial selection procedure primarily takes place at his or her home university. There may be an additional selection process for the courses the candidate wants to study at the University of Gothenburg.

For more information, go to exchange student application pages.
