Advanced Linear and Multilinear Algebra

Master's level | 7.5 credits | Course code: MMA200
Autumn 2017
50% Day
Period: 28 August 2017 - 29 October 2017
2 Closed GU-11755
2) Only EU/EEA citizens and students with approved residence permit in Sweden can apply

About the Course

The course gives a deeper understanding of vector spaces and linear maps, motivated partly by higher differential calculus. We also explain how the tensor calculus in mechanics and relativity theory can be made independent of the choice of coordinates, by using universal constructions from algebra. Further, you will study Clifford-algebras and spinors, which are needed to describe spin in quantum mechanics. Other automorphic groups that appear in mathematical physics will also be discussed.
