About the Course

The broad field of materials science is looked at from a physics perspective. Properties of the materials are governed by atomic arrangements up to the macroscopic structures.The course is expanding from ideal crystals and simple liquids to real materials, such as metallic alloys, ceramics, polymers, colloidal systems and biological materials. The aim of this course is to provide a foundation for understanding and utilization of properties and behavior of soft and hard materials. The course provides core competence for students aiming at either a career in academia or in R&D-industry. It is also the foundation for the entire material physics track.

Requirements and Selection

Requirements: Bachelors degree in physics or equivalent. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.

Selection: Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 225 credits.

Application fee: 900 SEK
Full course cost: 14 875 SEK
First payment: 14 875 SEK
