About the Course

This course aims at giving a deeper knowledge in microbial genetics and physiology. A main subject in the course is a supervised project where the genetics of prokaryotes is studied. Analysis of the structure of the genome, gene expression, protein pattern and cellular physiology will be studied. The theoretical part of the course consists of lectures, literature studies, seminars and group discussions.

Requirements and Selection

Requirements: Passed courses in Cell Biology, BIO900, 15 credits, Molecular Genetics, BIO905, 15 credits, Biological Form and Function, BIO910, 15 credits, Ecology and Evolution, BIO915, 15 credits, and Biodiversity and Systematics, BIO920, 15 credits, and completion of Chemistry, 30 credits or equivalent courses. In addition a completed depth course of 15 credits in Microbiology, Molecular Biology or Genetics or equivalent is required. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.

Selection: Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 225 credits.

Application fee: 900 SEK
Full course cost: 29 101 SEK
First payment: 29 101 SEK
