About the Course

During the degree project the student will explore and analyze a topic within the molecular biology field in depth. The student will plan the specific study in collaboration with the supervisor, implement the experiments and analyze the resulting data during one semester fulltime study.  The student shall summarize the work in an written scientific report and also do an oral presentation. The project work is normally part of a research project at one of the research groups at the department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, but it can also be done at another department, at a company, government agency, etc. The work usually contains both theoretical and experimentall elements, but entirely theoretical projects are also possible. The project can after agreement be extended to 45 hec or 60 hec.

Requirements and Selection

Requirements: Passed basic courses in Biology 75 credits (BIO900 Cell Biology, BIO905 Molecular Genetics , BIO910 Biological form and function, BIO915 Ecology and Evolution and BIO920 Biodiversity and Systematics). In addition you need at least one approved advanced level course in biology, 15 credits, in a relevant area and an approved degree project in molecular biology or biology of at least 15 credits. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.

Selection: Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 225 credits.

Application fee: 900 SEK
Full course cost: 60 500 SEK
First payment: 60 500 SEK
