About the Course

The baskurs focuses on developing foundational skills along with introducing new ways to experiment with different ideas and mediums. It offers a basic introduction to fine art practices at Valand Academy. The course provides an introductory experience in making, writing and talking about art.

You will learn through a series of short projects and a guided process of playful experimentation. Examples of other forms of teaching we work with are workshops, group discussions and tutorials. During the course you also learn to work independently on an artistic work, to reflect thoughtfully on your own work and that of your colleagues.

The course is geared and accessible to you with no prior experience in fine art to those aiming to advance their levels and knowledge of the field.

Based at our city centre campus on Vasagatan, this foundation course offers a supportive atmosphere in which to build your confidence, and develop your artistic skills and interests.
