About the Course

This course builds on courses from the first year and gives detailed knowledge about sedimentology and stratigraphy. Among other aspects, the course covers grain size characteristics, sediment provenance, depositional environments and principles of stratigraphy. The course consist of lectures, group field work, mandatory lab exercises (grain size analysis, paleocurrent measurements, logging, thin-section analysis, etc.), and an excursion to Bornholm, Denmark.

Requirements and Selection

Requirements: 60 hp genomgångna kurser inom huvudområdet geovetenskap varav 75 % med betyget lägst Godkänd. Studerande med likvärdig utbildning kan efter prövning beredas tillträde till kursen.

Selection: Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 225 credits.

Application fee: 900 SEK
Full course cost: 29 101 SEK
First payment: 29 101 SEK
