About the Course

The course focus on practical application of public health theories and methods. The course contains a theoretical part in which the practical implications of previous courses are discussed, in particular how scientific methods can be used in evaluating targeted public health interventions. Models and methods for project planning are introduced, the basics of intervention research are treated as well as the importance of planning for future health evaluations. In addition, an internship is conducted within a national or international authority or organization under supervision and a report on the experience is produced by the student.

Requirements and Selection

Requirements: Qualification for admission to the course requires professional degree/Bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits in a health science, social science, science, economics, arts or engineering field of education and grade Passed/E in English B/English 6 In addition, the grade pass is needed on MPH211 Public health science: foundations and applications(15 hp), and MPH221 Epidemiology and biostatistics (15 hp) or equivalent. Admission to the course also includes students who have passed the approved courses in MGH101 Global Health Issues in an Interdisciplinary Context (15 credits) and the course MGH201 Governing health and illness in a global perspective (15 credits) or MGH202 Global health economics (15credits).

Selection: Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 225 credits.
