About the Course

The Earth's climate is changing. The effects are above all evident in sensitive areas such as the Arctic, a region that also has a major impact on the global climate. This course will help you understand what is happening in the Arctic with a focus on subarctic. The course covers a wide range of topics such as Climatology, Glaciology, geomorphology, ecology and biogeochemical cycles to provide a better understanding of the changes occurring in the Arctic and potential feedbacks to the global climate. Much of the course focuses on a field trip to the Swedish mountains and the subsequent projects. You get practical experience of the methods used to interpret the changes in the landscape. You get knowledge about climate change in the subarctic, past and present. Additionally, you will learn how resilient this region is against various disturbances. All teaching is in English. The fieldtrip implies extra costs for the student.
