About the Course

In the wake of increased individualization of the western world since the 1960s, new forms of religion have emerged, sometimes referred to as new spiritualities, New Age or a new form of folk belief. The course highlights these new spiritualities from social science perspectives, and addresses the social, cultural and structural changes that have contributed to its emergence. In addition, the course critically deals with issues of its local and global dimensions, commercial aspects and gender perspectives.
