Master's level | 7.5 credits | Course code: RT2313

The course is not given as a stand-alone course this academic year, but can be included in the program/course package. For information contact the department.

About the Course

Contemporary systematic theology is almost always carried out in deep dialogue with historical tradition. The critical retrieval of historical material is one of its main methods. For this reason, knowledge of classical texts is crucial for advanced work in the field of systematic theology. In this course, we study a few central works in the history of theology in order to deepen our understanding of different positions and ways of doing theology. Course work is focused on a close reading of primary texts from one or several theological traditions, such as the patristic, scholastic, reformed or radical-reformation traditions. In this way, the course provides an excellent foundation for further work in systematic theology or its neighbouring disciplines.
