About the Course

Yoga and meditation are today commonly used elements within the fields of religion and personal development as well as health and wellness. The course deals with research on yoga and meditation both through theories and themes, and through analyses of concrete traditions. By highlighting both historical roots and contemporary developments the course aims at giving an overview of the development of yoga from a culture-specific to a global phenomenon. The focus lays on traditions originating in South Asia, such as Hinduism and Buddhism, but comparisons are made with other religions such as Christianity.
