About the Course

Within religious traditions, rules regarding sexuality, family life and sexual acts have played different roles. The course addresses the interplay between religion, gender and sexuality from historical and contemporary perspectives and illustrates how gender, sex, ethnicity, age, sexuality and class can interact in the creation of asymmetric power relationships within the world of religion.
