About the Course

This course – individual project work addressing storytelling and place - is an opportunity to pursue an investigative artistic project in response to the neighbourhood of Angered for people working through fine art, photography, film, curating and related arts practices.

The language of instruction is Swedish and English and the course will take place in Angered at Blå Stallet as part of a partnership between Valand Academy and Blå Stället.

The course is primarily targeted at students with ongoing studies – i.e., students who have started a programme of artistic education but not yet finished. For those who have not started a programme of artistic education, exceptions can be applied.

The course will foreground approaches to storytelling and place, where Angered is the focus. The summer school will consist of student presentations, lectures, seminars, critique sessions, independent practice, and engagement with the local area. Successful applicants will be expected to present their project proposals in group-sessions in the first weeks of the course. Over the summer there will be three key stages where work-in-progress is presented in group-critique sessions.

The teachers on the course are Behjat Omer Abdulla, Kjell Caminha, Sarah Tuck and invited guests from the arts and third sector.
