About the Programme

The programme prepares you for an international career as an orchestra musician. With students and instructors from around the world, the programme is thoroughly focused on an international perspective. You can work with guest conductors and soloists at high artistic and educational levels: Gustavo Dudamel, Ariane Matiakh, Truls Mörk, Eva Ollikainen, Antje Weithaas and Christian Zacharias are some examples from recent years. As a student, you form the foundation for the University of Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. In the symphony orchestra and in different chamber music contexts, you and the other students work together for two years. By taking a long-term approach in various forms of ensemble, you have the opportunity to develop not only as an instrumentalist but also as a team player. An independent project is also included, where you choose a creative and artistic topic to delve deeper into. You will study in Artisten, a building full of artistic programmes and research in the middle of Gothenburg. The majority of the teachers in the programme are from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Gothenburg Opera. The programme offers good opportunities for collaborations and to establish contacts in the region's rich music scene and gives you the opportunity to build an international network.

The language of instruction is English.
