Welcome Programme

The International Student Welcome Programme is held at the beginning of each semester. The programme of events and activities provides international students with practical information about the University and living in Gothenburg. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet other international students and Student Buddies from all over the world.

Your faculty and department may organise additional events and orientation gatherings not mentioned here. For more information about events organised by your faculty, please contact your department.

Welcome event hosted by the City of Gothenburg
The City of Gothenburg invites new international students to a welcome reception. This popular mingle event includes a welcome speech by the lord mayor, food, drinks, and of course an excellent chance to spend a beautiful evening with fellow students.

We are happy to announce that the event will take place at Universeum, a large science centre in Gothenburg. We don't really have a dress-code, but please consider that you'll be walking through the indoor rain forest, explore the aquarium, and perhaps try some challenges on the science floor like riding the mechanical horse they have there or trying the slackline.

Date: 12 February
Time: 7:00pm (NB! The event starts at 7:00pm!)
: Universeum
Nearest tram/bus stop: Korsvägen

This event is free of charge but you need to bring your ticket and valid ID with you.

We will send you an invitation via e-mail on 22 January, 4:30pm.

Student Buddies activities

The Student Buddies organise plenty of activities both at the start and throughout the semester in order to help international students settle in and meet fellow students. You can contact them if you need more information about student life in Gothenburg or if you want to know more about the different activities arranged for you.
