Get to know Gothenburg

Being an international student is so much more than studying and going to class. It is also about creating a life with new friends in a new place, giving you memories that will last a lifetime.

International students in Gothenburg are often particularly pleased with the social life, the campus environment, the transportation services and the city's eco-friendly attitude.

Gothenburg has more students than any other city in Sweden. You can choose to lead a typical student life, with great study facilities, cosy cafés, student parties and communal student accommodation. But you can also take part in the various events and the diverse cultural scene that Gothenburg has to offer.

Student blogs

The Study in Sweden blog is a great resource for tips and information. Several of our students are content creators on this platform.

Between the years 2011-2018, a number of International students studying at the University of Gothenburg, told stories about their life in Gothenburg. The blog is no longer active, but you can still read the old posts!

Fitness and recreation

In the city centre you will find numerous fitness centres, parks and running tracks.

You can also take the bus or tram to the vast hiking areas, jogging trails and unspoilt scenery that await you just outside the city.
