Student health care

Health care in Sweden is tax-funded, a system that ensures equal access to health care services. This means, for example, that you as a patient pay a nominal fee, that there is a high-cost ceiling for medical consultations and that healthcare for children is free of charge. The healthcare services can be a bit different than what you are used to, in terms on how you seek medical advice or treatment.

Student unions

A students’ union is an organisation run by students. The union is perhaps best known for organizing welcome weeks, parties and other activities for students, but it also looks after the interests of you and other students at the University and in society at large. This can include creating opportunities for you to meet other students, have meaningful leisure time, receiving a good education, and finding an apartment. University of Gothenburg has four student unions. All unions have memberships available. Which union you will belong to, depends on the programme or courses you take.
